Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
